THIS SITE IS SERIOUSLY ADDICTING
Hello fellow Medium Writers…I have been on this site for quite some time now, and recently became a “PAID MEMBER”. It definitely has become my new “Crush”.
I won’t lie…I am guilty of taking my phone to the bathroom with me, and spending WAY too much time in there, playing games or scrolling, but somehow, this seems more “adult” than playing with candy gems and trying to beat that next level. I have given up my Candy addiction for writing sites like this one. You actually LEARN from this site, and although it sometimes may take longer to read through an article, than lose your lives in a mindless games, I say its warranted. There’s a lot to be said for having an extra washroom in our home.
I have been off work for a few weeks (from my other job) and have found myself compelled to read the latest works on here daily. I follow other writers as they write about interesting topics and keep shit real! This is so much more of a brain feed than those Angry Birds or Solitaire. It’s not a waste of valuable time, and pretty much everything I read is helpful or insightful in some shape or form.
Over the past month I have found articles on How to Be A Better Writer (More than I can count), ways to stay productive, diets to help you lose weight, delicious food ideas, travel tips and so much more, and for ONLY $5.00 a month? And even though it is a site of “floating heads” as one writer said, I feel comfortable being a floating head in this world. We are all in it together.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t always sit in the bathroom and read your pieces of art, I also sit and stare out my office window, much like the rest of you, and think about what to write. I am also working on a book right now, and although this site is highly distracting, it also “puts me in the mood” to get my thoughts rolling. It gives me the desire to think about what to write, and to power through another chapter.
I have spent time searching the net for more sites like this one, and memberships to join with like minded writers, but so far, this one stands out the most.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your honesty, boldly written articles, and all of the other take-aways I gain from your work on here. you ALL deserve a CLAP and a read, because in the end, thats exactly why we all write, and we all find ourselves staring at our computer screens, pondering what to write about.
As for my writing topics, I am pretty much all over the map. A thought will come to me and I just sit and ramble, or try to articulate what is going on inside my head or heart at that moment. I have been told that my articles are “Eclectic” and I am unsure of whether thats a positive or negative, but its all ME. I speak from the heart, and sometimes my sentences are too long, and I can be wordy. I am working on this, however, sometimes your thoughts come out so fast, that your fingers can’t keep up. Or your fingers type away and your thoughts are out, before you realize what you have just said. Either way, I am attempting to hone this. Reading about various methods and steps to edit and adjust your skills, is SO helpful.
I saw this quote today, and its so very true….
“Who wants to become a writer? And why? Because it’s the answer to everything. … It’s the streaming reason for living. To note, to pin down, to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make something, to make a great flower out of life, even if it’s a cactus.”
— Enid Bagnold
I am so glad I gave up on mindless Candy Crush, and decided to make a “great flower” out of life. Mine may very well be a cactus, but thats ok.
I am so grateful to be a part of this site.
