Kelsey Davidson is “ALIVE!”
SHE TAUGHT ME TO BE “ALIVE” AGAIN
Three years ago, a friend of mine invited me to join her in an outdoor Boot Camp class at a local park, and I was hesitant, as I was not into fitness or exercise at the time, and really was intimidated by people who were. I agreed to go and “test the waters”, even though I had no idea what to expect or how difficult it was going to be.
Enter Kelsey Davidson….our Boot Camp instructor
Kelsey arrived at the Boot Camp area and introduced herself to me, and I was instantly comfortable and ready to take on the challenges of her class. She had a bright smile, a full head of long red hair, freckles, and most obviously a passion that she wears with her heart, on her sleeve. We ran, did squats, push-ups, kick boxing and over the hour we spent together, her positive words and energy became contagious. She lead the class as a participant, taking part in every exercise that she asked us to do, offering variations to try if we found the options too challenging, or not challenging enough. The first class with her was the motivation for me to keep going and engross myself in fitness and health.
Meeting Kelsey in the capacity of her role as Boot Camp instructor was a major turning point in mine, and many other women’s lives. After my first hour with her I discovered that she is a mother of two young children, married to her best friend, and is the founder of her own fitness company called Alive Fitness and Wellness. Kelsey has a drive to help other women reach fitness and health goals and works constantly, learning new ways to connect and share with her fitness family. Her passion and drive is captivating and her boundless energy and keeping her clients accountable is motivating. She encourages and engages with her clients from all over the globe, from the US to Canada and within other regions such as Costa Rica! And all of her clients have the same mutual respect and admiration for Coach Kelsey.
Kelsey’s Life before she became Alive Fitness
Born in 1984 in Nanaimo, BC in Canada, Kelsey had a strong and loving family, and a happy childhood. She grew up as an athlete, with an intense love for soccer, dreaming of playing with the NCAA in Ohio. She wrote her SAT, with the encourgaement of her parents, but in her gut, she felt that she would not pursue the dream. Her life and direction would change. She settled on playing soccer in her own city and became captain of the team, and opted to take University courses in Tourism, Recreation and Business management.
Over the course of the year that Kelsey was finding her physical and educational direction, her father struggled with colon cancer. She juggled her education and time with her dad to make memories with him and ensure that he knew how much she loved and appreciated him. Sadly, in November of 2002, he lost his battle. Losing her father was the pathway to her new outlook on life.
When she met her husband, she was in the throes of developing her passions for life. Her outlook was that every day is a gift that should not be taken for granted, so she spent time travelling alone, to discover the world and to just “be”. She paired up with the man she would marry and worked in Disney World with him! She refers to it as “the time I worked for the mouse in Disney World”, creating memories of adventures with her best friend. They had two precious children together and still live happily ever after.
Kelsey and her husband have instilled their adventurous and “life too short” attitude into their children and together the 4 of them have uprooted and travelled to Costa Rica, New York, Arizona and have recently began to settle down again in British Columbia, where Kelsey runs her fitness company through Social Media and a user friendly fitness app. She has created a very tight knit “fitness family” with online group engagement, challenges, nutrition and goals. She works non stop ensuring that all of the members of her family feel that she is involved in their world of progress and struggles, helping them to stay focused and working together with them to help them achieve their goals.
A Fitness Queen and her Alive Family
As if Kelsey doesn’t work enough, she also is a writer and blogger, and has been featured in Running Room Magazine, Can Fit Pro, has collaborated with fitness clothing lines such as Ivivva and Lululemon and has hosted and facilitated multiple fund raisers for cancer patients and is an active board member with Quinn’s Legacy, an organization that supports families who have lost babies too soon from SIDS. She also has her own monthly online magazine that has taken her fitness family to a whole new level of seeing who the real Mrs. Davidson is. On top of this, she raises her two children while her husband works out of province, does her own running and workouts, oversees her online clients; creating fitness programs and challenges for all of them, and STILL manages to engage daily with her fitness family. She is continually planning and creating her next steps, her next dreams and her next vision.
Her mission within her company Alive Fitness and Wellness is to strengthen women; physically, mentally, and spiritually to feel ALIVE again. Her vision was to create a “wall free” work out studio, and with the online app and the virtual training that she leads her family in, there are NO walls. There is a mutual respect and mutual goals, and Kelsey works hard with her clients to help them feel ALIVE.
As one of her clients, I can be honest and say that I have accomplished so much more than simply “making it through a Boot Camp class”. I love fitness and I see my own goals being achieved continually, and for the first time in my adult life, I am not afraid to make new goals and work to achieve them! I have belief in myself, and it would definitely would have been next to impossible without learning from Miss Kelsey. She takes time to research to help clients who have specific goals, or to figure out new ways to make it to the next level of their fitness dreams. She works for you and with you, and communicating with her is easy and open and she is not afraid to be vulnerable or hilariously human.
Kelsey Davidson has helped and motivated many women to feel alive and reach their goals. WIth her energy, her passion and her presence, besides being FIERCE and FEARLESS, the only true personification I can give for this truly talented young woman, is she IS ALIVE! And she honestly makes the women who surround her feel the same way.
