Ah yes I remember the day too well

Valentines Day of 1996. I wouldn’t let my daughter wear a fancy dress to go to the hospital to see a new baby of a friend of mine. It was blistering cold outside and she chose a summer dress to wear and I asked her to put pants on. She was almost 3 years old and hadn’t had much sleep the night before. It was -35 Celsius outside and when I asked her for the third time to please put pants on …it happened

She yelled “I hate you!”

She is now 26 and loves me like her best friend but we both remember that moment well

In the end we went to the hospital and she wore snow pants over her fancy summer dress

After I choked back the sting of her words lol
